Dr. Olivera was awarded a Ph.D. degree in Counselling Psychology by the University of Toronto. In addition she was also awarded two Master Degrees in Clinical and Health Psychology from the University of Belgrade, Serbia and Middlesex University, United Kingdom, respectively. Dr Olivera is a licensed Counselling Psychologist of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Psychological services may be offered in English or in the languages of former Yugoslavia – Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian.
As a fully licensed psychologist with over 20 years of experience, Dr. Olivera provides psychological assessments and psychotherapy to adults with a variety of concerns to include: depression, anxiety, loss and grief, eating issues and the post-traumatic effects of physical, sexual and emotional abuse. In addition to her extensive experience in working with adults, Dr Olivera has also worked with university students for 16 years helping those with a host of issues; including but not limited to adjustment to university, cross-cultural issues, sexuality and relationship issues.
In her practice, Dr. Olivera strives to create a comfortable and safe environment for clients by being fully present, supportive and non-judgmental. At the same time, she collaborates with clients so they may become proactive participants in their own treatment/recovery. Dr. Olivera integrates empirically supported psychotherapy approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and attachment based therapy. Dr Olivera considers psychotherapy as a growth oriented process, and she is passionate about helping clients build psychological strength, resilience and emotional intelligence.
